Decker Electric was hired to upgrade the BNSF rail yard in San Bernadino, CA from 5KV primary voltage to 12KV, with all new construction designed for 15KV utilization and initially energized at 5KV to facilitate a future transition to 12KV. This project included removal and replacement of existing 5KV cable with 15KV-rate cable. Additionally, replaced existing pad mount transformers with five new dual-primary pad mount transformers to support a phased transition, and relocated one transformer to a new position. Additionally, two sectionalizers, metal clad switchgear, and vista switch gear were supplied and installed in the service area.
