Creekstone Farms Case Sealer Line

Creekstone Farms need an additional 33% production capacity at their plant. They called Decker Electric to complete this design-build project to provide electrical and automation upgrades for additions and modifications to the case sealer conveyor line at the Creekstone Farms facility.

The conveyor line flow turned 180 degrees from the original configuration as well as added a third Case Sealer to the flow so it could process 33% more boxes. Decker Electric provided electrical and automation design, engineering, PLC programming, UL panel building, fiber optic and Category 6 communications and start-up and commissioning services. Decker crews were able to install about 50% of the work before the planned shutdown and then had a five day shutdown to work with conveyor installers to completely reconfigure the line, install new controls and power, and then bring it back on line.

The biggest challenge was the five day outage schedule. The conveyor company did not finish their installation until twelve hours before the outage was planned to be over. Decker Electric finished testing only minutes before boxes started processing from the pack off area to the case sealer line.
